Trump: I've been experimenting with controversial drug for weeks (VIDEO)

President Donald Trump announced on Monday after a round table with restaurant executives that he has been taking hydroxychloroquine for weeks now shocking everyone in attendance. You could hear the room fill with curiosity when he admitted to it on television.

Trump has previously said in the past he might take it (many thought he was bluffing) and today confirmed for the first time that he indeed is.

The drug has been very controversial for months and we're just now finally getting more data feedback on it. Two large studies of hospitalized patients in New York City found that the drug was essentially useless.

Oddly, Trump is claiming that his White House doctors permitted him to take it at his insistence even though the FDA recently cautioned against its use outside of a hospital setting or clinical trial due to risk of heart rhythm problems.

Trump said he is experimenting with it even though he has "no symptoms."

Does Trump think this is preventing him from getting Covid-19?

"I happen to be taking it. I'm taking it. Right now, yeah. I started a couple weeks ago. I'm taking it cause I heard a lot of good stories."

The reporters asked him a flurry of questions pressing him for more details surrounding his use of hydroxychloroquine.

Trump kept maintaining that because a lot of "front line workers" are taking it, he should too just to be on the safe side. He says he also supplements with zinc.

"All I can tell you is that I seem to be okay."
