Mitch McConnell wants to give Don Jr. a 'happy ending' on his subpoena (VIDEO)

On "Hannity" Thursday night, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reassured Republicans that the subpoena issued to Donald Trump Jr. by the Senate is merely a "blip," and that it would have a "happy ending."

On the program, easily the most pro-Trump of Fox's lineup, Sean Hannity asked McConnell about the subpoena, which concerns misleading testimony given by Trump's eldest son.

"I think that this is going to have a happy ending," McConnell reassured the host. "I understand the president's frustration here. But I think that this is just a blip, I think that the case is closed. I think that the controversy has been concluded."

McConnell later reiterated his refrain of "case closed" on further investigations and actions by Congress regarding Trump's corruption and criminality.

"I believe when the Senate Intelligence Committee finally does report, which I think will not be too far down the road from here, they will reach the very same conclusion," McConnell added.

The exchange was an indication from McConnell to conservatives, Republicans, and Hannity himselfthat he intends to use his position of power to continue providing cover for Trump.

However, Trump, his administration, and related figures — including like his son (and his daughterand his son-in-law) — are still under continued congressional investigation. Democratic committee chairs have changed course from House Republicans, who gave Trump a pass for two years.

The case is not closed on Trump or his son, and McConnell's weakness on corruption on criminality is merely red meat for the party's most rabid supporters, completely disconnected from reality.
