Lindsey Graham objects to passing bill because it gives unemployed nurses too much money (VIDEO)
Senator Lindsey Graham, along with other influential Republicans, are now threatening to delay the $2 trillion coronavirus relief bill because of last minute objections. One of those relates to giving too much money in unemployment benefits.
From Wednesday's press conference:
LINDSEY GRAHAM: If you're a nurse — aide — making $15 or $16 an hour, you're on the front lines here. A lot of doctor's offices are going to have to roll back because elective surgery's no longer a source of income for a bunch of doctors.
So, you're going to have all these well-trained nurses, they're going to make $24 an hour on unemployment. You're literally incentivizing taking people out of the workforce at a time when we need critical infrastructure supply for the workers.
So - let's get this straight - Senator Graham wants to give a bunch of money to Boeing and other major corporations but not to nurses? That's how we're interpreting his statements. There's really no other way - these are his words. It was a bad example, nonetheless.
